Finished, but...

I finished the Totoro hat, sans embroidery, on Friday evening. But I think the ears are coming off. I learned about alpaca yarn with this knit, and what I learned is that it's crazy soft, crazy hairy, and crazy floppy.

Not so good for stand-up ears on a Totoro.

What I'm thinking: I'll reknit the Totoro bonnet in superwash wool (I have some nice blue that will work) and take the ears off this one, then stick a flower or maybe some smaller (bear?) ears on it instead. Another option is to call these bunny ears, and embroider the cap to match.. what do you guys think?

I thought they were bunny ears and was wondering why on earth you'd be taking them off. Keep the bunny ears! They're cute :)

I think it's cute like this too. I'm sure you could just call it a blue bunny...

Like they'd stand up for long anyway, being worn and all. I'd call it a lop earred bunny and be done.

Bunny ears! Kids look so cute in floppy eared hats -- some of my favorite pix of my son are in a floppy bunny ear hat. If you want to go nuts, you can make little stuffed carrots at the ends of the ties. So cute!

I'm with everyone else, those are some stylin' bunny ears. Isn't that what they were supposed to be?

Yeah, nothing flops like an alpaca.

Okay, so if it wasn't a bunny (but of course it is) what would it be?

Okay, I googled "Totoro". But I still couldn't say what it IS :)
