Aarrrgh.

Garter-stitch bottom edge?
Flips up.
i-cord inner band?
Curls in (you can't even see it in this picture, it's so curled. It's on the right edge here).

Advice? I know there's a couple of ways to knit applied i-cord. I used the way where the stitch you grab from the knitted garment is actually knit together with the last i-cord stitch. I know you can also pick up a loop of working yarn with that stitch and then do the k2tog, which might change the way it lies. You can also do it from the back (but I think that looks sloppy, and it flips to the front). There might be other hints...

Baargh. This is SO close.

  1. I had the SAME problem with the applied i-cord on Samus. I'm sad to say that the only way I could reduce the curl was to pick up a stitch along the entire circumference of the sweater, purl back (more than 600 stitches!) and then begin working the applied i-cord. It stills curls a little, but not as bad. For the garter stitch, maybe you need more rows? Although if you i-cord that edge too you'll get some stabilizing.

Can't you just do some ribbing? Not so pretty maybe, but efficient no?

  3. Crochet? Seems like I do that a lot to try and tame things from curling.

  5. I was reading about making a zigzag line between the stocking stitch and the garter stitch *k5, p1* repeat, then next rs-purl row *k3, p3* and following one *k1, p5* so that there isn't a straight line for it to curl on... good luck! - it's beautiful
