I got nothin' — so you get somethin'

I have done zero knitting this week owing to Jewish holidays, the Henry Rollins show (w00t!), and other nonsense — like going to see Roger Reynolds' Sanctuary Project tonight at the Salk Institute, which should be interesting.

SO! Make a comment and tell me this: what would you do if you unexpectedly had an afternoon off work — or, if you're retired, an extra 4 hours in your week — but no money to spend on it?

I'll draw a random comment from all those received by 6 p.m. PDT on Tuesday night, and the winner will get my Spring/Summer 2008 copy of knit.1, featuring "natural knits", some cute amigurumi animals, and other stuff. I've read it a few times now, but don't want to keep it.

The photo below is from our road trip this past summer. We went to Salt Lake City, and saw this unusual sculpture on a city street near the Tabernacle.

Extra hours in my week...hmm...

I'd probably do more of the same things I do most of the time - watch some television, knit, play some EQ2, and spend time with the ratties. There's never enough hours in the day as is.

I'd take Neatnik and Number Guy for a hike in the woods. Then we'd have a quiet lunch at home and then we'd read and knit and drink tea!

Well, if that extra 4 hours was on a beautiful day, I'd sit out on the deck and spin or knit the afternoon away.

Or I'd take a nap :-)

I am declining to answer this question due to the fact that I have more than enough time on my hands.

I think with an extra few hours I'd so some sculpture like that! Someone either made that with trash and gave it away, or they got paid A LOT for it. Win win either way.

I'd tidy up my closet, rearrange the bookshelf into related sections or organize my stray knitting patterns, recipies, etc. Or rewatch some of the old recorded Seinfeld episodes. Or find a movie to watch for free on hulu.com or watch some episodes of Kitchen Nightmares. Need more?

I'd make grand plans to do this and that - tidy, organize, clean up all those huge photo files on my hard drive! But...it would be more of the same. Knit or sew. Email my girlfriends. Read. Start up some laundry. Figure out what to fix for dinner. Unload and load the dishwasher. Read knitting blogs.

With a few hours windfall in this week, I'd rake and weed my tremendously neglected back yard. Unfortunately I'd need a windfall month to make it presentable, but I could get a good start with some hours.

That sculpture looks very Mambo!

Er, is it just me or does that sculpture look really, really Not Mormon to anyone else? I mean, I'm pretty sure that fish has been drinking coffee.

Oh, and I'd probably waste my time sleeping. Or eating candy. Or both, if that was possible without choking, which, sadly, it probably is not.

I don't need to be in the drawing. I'm more of a knitting groupie.

Oh, and? The secret word I have to enter to prove I'm not a bot is "eepeski," which is pretty fab. I'm going to start yelling it suddenly at random intervals just to confuse people. I bet it'll work, too.

Eepezki!
